A Quick Look at the Leica M Settings, Menu and Live View Focusing

November 24, 2012 — Published by

Got a chance the other day to play with a prototype Leica M. Yes, it’s not that difficult to be sold instantly. The M Typ 240 is just a different league, a whole new beast compared to its predecessors, albeit without breaking the strong past and tradition of the brand. Period. The M is snappier, more responsive, same intuitive — and this with non-final firmware. Not to mention the beautifully crafted and well-thought-out body. Leica reinvents the rangefinder. Great things to expect.

Now here’s a quick look at the M’s menu and functions. Yes, I really tried to insert my own SD card. No way. Leica is very determined about making clear that we can’t yet see the real thing. So I guess the few early samples you see on the Net are published without Leica’s consent. It’s probably safe to assume that the CMOS output won’t be a letdown in any way. Leica clearly knows what they’re doing with the M.

(Alternatively you can watch this video on YouTube.)

+++ BTW, you can preorder the Leica M from Amazon (black/silver), B&H (black/silver) or Adorama (black/silver). First batches should reach dealers in March.
